Monday, Prime Gaming for May has some interesting offers, and someone officially got old(er). Tuesday, people I find scary (Mortal Kombat fans) had to readjust their underpants. Wednesday, the first half of Game Pass for May was unveiled, and Showgunners, X-COM crossed with a cyberpunk reality TV game show, released and I’ll have a review for it sometime. Thursday, nostalgia hit really hard as Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of Dragons was revealed, and Alexx wrote about Soul Survivors releasing because of course he did. It is a Rogue-like, it is illegal if he doesn’t get excited by them.

Moving on to the Epic Games Store, we’ll start the week on Against All Odds. This may be a strange addition to your collection as it is a new release on PC altogether. The “lethal” platformer with a multiplayer bent to it looks like a less-attractive stylization of Action Henk. A bit like the recent Trackmania entries, there is seemingly a focus on the player-created runs and a multiplayer focus that makes the platformer less attractive in my opinion. With a lack of reviews, a lack of release (until Thursday for me), and a lack of anything independent, it is difficult to say too much.

Next up is Horizon Chase Turbo, a repeat that is not the most interesting option this week. An arcade racer released in 2018 by AQUIRIS (Epic Brazil now) and praised particularly by parents, Horizon Chase Turbo is polished but of course a bit shallow. Heralded for being like the arcade racers of the 90s, particularly Top Gear (not the offensive one), Horizon Chase Turbo is aimed at those looking for a nostalgic hit of racing. Pick it up if you haven’t already, but there is a good chance you’ll play something else this week.

The final addition to your Epic library is Kao the Kangaroo, a reboot of the early 2000s action-platformer. Originally from X-Ray Interactive (turned Tate Multimedia), it is one of the few independent (almost mascot) platformers of the era to survive. Of course, there was a 16-year gap between releases, but sometimes I wish more franchises did that to give us time to want more. Free this week as a result of the Bend the Roo’les DLC releasing yesterday, Kao is worth picking up before deciding if you want to pick up the two DLCs available.

All this week you can pick up Against All OddsHorizon Chase Turbo, and Kao the Kangaroo on the Epic Games Store until the 11th of May. Moving on to next week it is another strange one similar to Against All Odds being free this week even though it is free in the first place. The Sims 4‘s The Daring Lifestyle bundle will be free, which includes the Jungle Adventure game pack, Luxury Party stuff pack, and Fashion Street kit. I remember when The Sims had whole expansion packs.
