I’m a relatively new fan of the League of Legends universe. This is thanks in part to Arcane and the fantastic card game Legends of Runeterra. As someone who has no interest in the core game, I’m happy to see Riot Games is continuing to expand the universe by exploring other game genres using the Riot Forge publication label. In 2021, Riot Forge released the single-player RPG The Ruined King with moderate success. Since that time, the studio has announced three additional titles and this week released a short trailer detailing planned release dates.

The first is Song of Nunu developed by Tequila works and set to drop in the fall of 2023. Song of Nunu is stated to be a single-player adventure title starring the boy champion Nunu and his Yeti friend and partner Willump. The second game is Convergence developed by Double Stallion. It is planned for release in the Summer of 2023. This title stars the time-traveling champion Ekko and is stated to be a 2d Action Platformer with a Metroidvania feel.

Lastly, Riot Forge debuted a brand new game called The Mageseeker to release in Spring of 2023. Developed by Digital Sun, The Mageseeker is set within the kingdom of Demacia and stars the character Sylas. Sylas was once a mage devoted to the kingdom’s endless crusade against magic but was eventually betrayed and imprisoned.

After escaping, he then began his own radical revolutionary campaign against the Demacian government. The Mageseeker game thrusts you directly into this conflict. The gameplay description is focused on 2d action combat with some RPG elements. There has been some speculation that this title could also be a Roguelike but this has not been confirmed. All of these titles will be coming to both PC and consoles. I’m quite excited to check a few of these games out and am looking foreword to seeing how each game can provide new worldbuilding for the Runeterra universe.

I've been playing games since I was a little kid. I have a soft spot for Nintendo titles and RPG's but play all kinds of titles across a variety of platforms. Outside of games I love to play music and practice martial arts. You can find me on Facebook and Instagram as well.
