Genshin Impact has been on a roll with updates centered around festivals and that’s not changing anytime soon. After focusing on the Windblume Festival from Mondstadt in Version 3.5, it’s time for Sumeru to have their turn. Of course, a new update also means new characters and additional content to look out for. Here’s what players can look forward to with the recently released Version 3.6 update, “A Parade of Providence.”

The flagship event for Version 3.6 has the same name as the update, although it’s based around a festival called Akademiya Extravaganza. After the Mondstadt Festival of Love, the Traveler can enjoy Sumeru and their festival celebrating wisdom. Multiple minigame events will be available to take part in and among the usual rewards, players can even unlock the Anemo Bow user Faruzan. This is a great opportunity for those who missed her when she was first released as a part of Version 3.3 in December of last year. The event isn’t available just yet though, as it’s set to begin on April 27th.

A brand new area will be added to the Sumeru desert region as well. Called “Girdle of the Sands”, it contains not just new enemies but new bosses as well. One such boss is Apep, a new weekly monster that players can challenge. The other is Iniquitous Baptist, an Abyss-related boss. New enemies belonging to the Consecrated Beast and Hilichurl Rogue groups will be added as well.

That leaves us with the new characters. Baizhu, everyone’s favorite pharmacist, will finally be joining as a 5-star character. Coming along with him is Kaveh as a 4-star. The former is a Dendro Catalyst user and the latter is a Dendro Claymore user. Baizhu will be featured in his own Immaculate Pulse event wish while Kaveh will be available in both that and Ganyu’s Adrift in the Harbor event wish. These event wishes will go up on April 12th, after the current ones featuring Nahida and Nilou are finished.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
