We’re starting the year off with a new announcement for a popular franchise. In 2013, Payday 2 was released and over the course of the last decade, it has sold 40 million copies. It also consistently maintained a community of over 8 million Steam users.

As of January 1st, Starbreeze Studios has announced that Payday 3 will be coming to PC and Consoles this year. While we don’t have many details yet regarding release timing, you can now go wishlist the game on Steam and join the community hub to get news and details as they are announced. So far, not much has been said about the game itself. However, here is what the steam page has to say.

PAYDAY 3 is the much-anticipated sequel to one of the most popular co-op shooters ever. Since its release, PAYDAY players have been reveling in the thrill of a perfectly planned and executed heist. That’s what makes PAYDAY a high-octane, co-op FPS experience without equal.

Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers, and the nightmare of law enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement.”

Over on the Payday 2 hub, there was also an announcement that gave a glimpse of the new setting for Payday 3. “As we get closer to launch, we look forward to revealing more details. Follow Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf as they make their way to the capital of the world – New York City – and find out what brought them back from retirement.”

Payday fans have a lot to look forward to it seems. While the details are scarce, I’m sure the developers at Starbreeze are gearing up for a few big announcements as the development progresses. Let’s hope 2023 is a good year for Payday 3.
