Much like Whitey Shafer, I’m waiting for Tennessee to come to American Truck Simulator, but in the meantime, I’ll try to avoid Rosanna in Texarkana, Sweet Eileen up in Abilene, Allison in Galveston, and Dimple who lives in Temple starting next week. Announced just the other day, I can finally do as Tony Christie once said, hang my hat where Sweet Marie waits for me, and truck across Texas as of next Tuesday, the 15th of November.

Joining the states of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado, the place where the stars at night are big and bright will become the 12th state to explore. Just another 38 to go, huh, SCS? With the biggest one now coming out 20 months following the announcement, it brings a lot of countryside and some of Texas’ most well-known towns and cities: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, as well as Victoria, Tyler, and a few others like Odessa. Alongside the big addition comes some big transport jobs across the state too.

Though that isn’t the only update to your American adventure, as update 1.46 has been released out of beta too. This update will bring a revamped gallery to manage your images, viewpoints, and landmark photo trophies, with the viewpoints in Idaho being tidied up a little. Alongside this comes a new company browser, allowing for a more specific filter when looking for one company, cargo, and/or trailer. Both of those additions are coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator with this update.

Further updates to American Truck Simulator come in the form of ownable cistern trailers, allowing for the transport of hydrochloric acid (that’s me on a watchlist, again), pesticides, and much more in the chemical transport field. Also new is the highly requested US Route 20 between Idaho and Montana (for owners of those DLCs), and now custom towns (looking at you modders) can have custom intros too. The final thing for this 1.46 update is the addition of “driveshaft torque,” which if I knew the first thing about cars and trucks I might be able to expand on that, but I can’t because I’m an idiot in that regard.
