I feel like I’m talking about driving a lot more than I’m supposed to. I mean, I don’t even have a license to drive a mobility scooter, nevermind a truck or an F1 car. Yet, nevertheless, I do as Limp Bizkit told me via wrestling and “keep rollin rollin rollin.” Yes, American Truck Simulator, the next step to Euro Truck Simulator 2, is moving ever Eastward with Idaho in its latest expansion of the United States. For those of you who accidentally clicked on the article, don’t go away, it is not all boring!

While the idea of driving for some is very boring, driving a truck is one of those calming things that you do after a day of killing prostitutes in Grand Theft Auto. Give me a good podcast, a couple of audiobooks, maybe some Doctor Who audio dramas and one of SCS Software’s 18 Wheels of Steel games or Euro Truck Sim 2. I’ll end up on the missing person’s list pretty quickly. However, I’ve been avoiding a large amount of American Truck Sim because it just isn’t finished, and that’s by design. You see, SCS Software released American Truck Sim back in 2016 with only California, Nevada, and Arizona.

I don’t know if you’ve driven the length and breadth of America like I have (illegally), but it is big. I’ve sat on the toilet flicking through Instagram, squeezing out things bigger than those three states. God bless America and its oversized portions. Luckily in those four years now since launch, you can each a little further North and East with New Mexico, Oregon (I heard there is a trail), Washington, and Utah. It is still quite small, but at least you can stretch out a little and go a little further East. The latest addition to the states at 1:20 the scale is Idaho.

Bringing 3,300 miles, 11 new cities, and everything Idaho is known for, this new DLC rolls on to Steam Thursday, July 16th. Players can pick up the 43rd State of picturesque canyons, farmlands, and valleys for $11.99, €11.99, £8.99 (or respective equivalents). Though the game as a whole is some ways off from being fully complete, we’re one step closer to driving all of the continental United States in an American long haul.
