After waiting for quite some time since the initial announcement came in early June, Limited Run has officially opened up the page for pre-ordering the physical versions of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for both the Nintendo Switch and PC.

For those who don’t know what KOTOR II is, think of it as the dark twin of the Knights of the Old Republic game from 2003. It was marketed as the standalone sequel to the previous game, but is most remembered for its rushed release that caused the game to be a bit clunky in a few areas. Despite this, a dedicated community was built around KOTOR II and brought it back to life through the Restored Content Mod, and a version of this mod is coming to this new release on the Switch through a DLC that Aspyr is releasing soon.

The first version of the game is the basic version which just includes the game cartridge. This version is only available for the Nintendo Switch and not for the PC. There is nothing too special for this one, however, it is very reasonably priced. Only costing $34.99 and is available through the Limited Run Store here. According to the description on the page, this product will be sent out 4-5 months after the pre-order window closes. This release, along with the other two, will come out pre-loaded with the patch that was given to the game in July, which fixed some errors from the launch.

The second version of the game is the Limited Premium Edition of the game. This version is available for both Nintendo Switch and PC at $89.99. While this collection has some amazing goodies, it is important to note that the PC version has one item that is exclusive to it. That item is the T3-M4 USB Drive containing the game. I can’t tell why they are giving you a CD case without a CD, but that is what they chose.

Beyond that, everything is relatively the same which means that you will get a physical copy of STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a Premium Collector’s Edition Box, and a STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords SteelBook or CD Case. As well as a Reversible 18″ x 24″ Poster, Character Concept Art Cards, a G0-T0 Enamel Pin, a Commemorative Coin, and a Certificate of Authenticity. This version will take 8-9 months to be made and sent out.

The third and final version is the Limited Master Edition of the game. This one is for the big time Star Wars collectors since this one is coming out for Nintendo Switch and PC at $174.99, which is quite a bit. Most of the differences between these two versions carry over from the previous edition, however, the Nintendo Switch version does get one thing that the PC version doesn’t. That is a throwback case that looks similar to the original Xbox cover that the game came out in when it first released.

Beyond these differences, each version has similar things which include a physical copy of STAR WARS Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords for Nintendo Switch, a Premium Collector’s Edition Box, a Master Edition Collector’s Box, and a Reversible 18″ x 24″ Poster. Along with Character Concept Art Cards, Korriban Concept Art Lithograph, a G0-T0 Enamel Pin, a Commemorative Coin, a 3″ Darth Nihilus Miniature Hilt Replica, a Premium Foil Hardcover Strategy Guide, a Pazaak Playing Mat, a Player 2 Pazaak Deck (Player 1 came with KOTOR 1‘s Limited Run Master Edition), and a Certificate of Authenticity. This version will also take 8-9 months to be made and sent out.

So there you have it!, three very different versions for three drastically different prices. For most, I imagine that the last two editions will be a bit too much to stomach considering that this game is almost two decades old at this point. Nonetheless, Limited Run does have a lot of neat things going into those editions if you are willing to wait. While this game has a rough reputation, I personally find it to have one of the best stories ever told in a Star Wars game and was a large part of my late childhood. If you plan on buying any of these editions, make sure to leave a comment below on which one and why you are getting it.
