Tuesday, we wrote that Espresso Tycoon is available in the Steam Simfest and will be for another couple of days. Wednesday, Breath of the Wild 2 was delayed out of 2022, and the fantastic Unpacking is coming to the PlayStation 4 and 5 very soon. Thursday, Prime Gaming was unveiled and this month is odd; it makes me want to commit tax evasion, and not because Twitch is owned by Amazon. Onto this week’s Epic Games Store freebie. Much like Doctor Who these past two weeks, it is another double bill in my life.

The first game available this week is the one that I think actually sparks interest, Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer. Released back in 2016 and despite sometimes looking (from a distance) like a game that released a good few years earlier, it is the dark high-fantasy turn-based empire-building and real-time tactical battling that is the gold standard for series of late. Sadly, much like Shadow of Mordor and War, I keep telling myself that I’ll play it soon, then never do. Partially because I find turn-based anything to be quite slow.

Moving on to the second game, City of Brass, I’m not as enthusiastic to play it really. Released back in 2018, City of Brass is a first-person Rogue-lite by way of singing “Arabian Nights” as you play Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. As a concept I think “great, let’s go for a magic carpet ride.” In execution, it is almost as bad as Formula 1 being in Saudi Arabia after making several statements of unity for all to race in solidarity against war, almost. If you’ve got anything else you’re currently playing, I wouldn’t rush to play City of Brass.

All this week, you can pick up Total War: Warhammer and City of Brass on the Epic Games Store until the 7th of April. Moving on to what is available next week, if you thought I didn’t care for these two you’ll just see my apathy grow when talking about Rogue Legacy and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. My two favorite things: walking simulators that are dull and Rogue-likes that are dated now. What next, a turn-based JRPG about some ponce named Cloud?
