It has been quick a while since we last spoke about The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe release, in fact, it was pre-pandemic. Oh, we were so naive back then. A time when you’d blame a delay on a lack of crunch and see people complain because they want developers to work in ridiculous conditions. Ok, passive-aggressiveness towards those who believe their world will shatter because a game isn’t out now aside, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe called in sick to work today again.

I don’t think it would surprise anyone to know Stanley is going to be calling in sick through the end of the year. Yesterday, we got a bit of an update from Davey Wreden from Galactic Cafe on the release, noting that Ultra Deluxe “is content complete and will be launching on consoles and computers early next year!” He went on a bit further in a lengthy Twitter thread about why the development has taken so long. This came alongside a short video featuring the wonderful Kevan Brighting telling us that developers purposefully lie and are using this explanation as a guise for a thinly veiled and satirical threat.

There is even a Steam Page for it now, which given Valve’s previous acceptance of uploading a bowl of rice pudding with chocolate buttons in it, that isn’t saying much. However, is it a bad thing to have hope this time around? Don’t bring your time traveling knowledge in here, knowing they missed the “Early 2022” window. Kevan and I will bounce you right through that window before we get the pitchforks out and go hunting for Davey Wreden. Release The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe in early 2022 or we riot!
