Kazuya Mishima Comes to Smash Ultimate This Week

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a wild lineup of fighters. The game was already ambitious in its inclusion of every character from past games. Now, we’re in the second of two fighter pack DLC runs bringing more challengers to the fight. The latest is Kazuya Mishima from the TEKKEN series. We got a look at Kazuya Mishima during E3 week and we now know that we’ll get the fighter in-game this week.

Challenger Pack 10 launches June 29th and includes a ton of great content. On top of Mishima, the DLC also includes a new stage and a selection of music tracks from the decades-spanning TEKKEN franchise. Debuting more than 25 years ago in the original TEKKEN game, Kazuya Mishima is one of the most recognizable faces in the storied fighting game series. It’s incredible to see Smash bring in another character from a rival fighting game series.

That said, Smash isn’t really trying to run on the same level as TEKKEN or the Street Fighter games. It’s a unique experience that celebrates both Nintendo’s illustrious history and the fighting genre itself. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Kazuya’s main attacks are similar to his fighting moves in TEKKEN, but to give him the midair jumps, smash attacks, and special moves that the Super Smash Bros. series is known for, his Devil’s Power is put to use. In later games in the TEKKEN series, Kazuya can transform into a winged demon.

If you’re anxious to get your hands on some Kazuya action, then you only have to wait until June 29th. Luckily, players who already purchased the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will get him automatically when the character becomes available. The pass has included other great characters up to this point from franchises like Minecraft and Final Fantasy.
