According to a CD Projekt Red’s CEO, Adam Kiciński, when talking with those in attendance at the WSE innovation Day on Cyberpunk 2077‘s stability issues: “We have already achieved a satisfactory level in this regard.” No, I am sorry, run that by me again? The game that you launched several months ago, (knowingly or ineptly) did not hold up reasonable performance on a base console that you were selling your game on for full price.

Not only this, but despite the recent patches returning the game to the storefront it was delisted from in December for such poor performance, there is now a new warning. The storefront has a warning not to buy the game on PlayStation 4 specifically due to performance and other issues. How, in any way, is this satisfactory?

Kiciński went on, as reported on by Polish outlet TVN24 (translated by Google Translate), “We have also been working on the overall efficiency, which we are also quite happy about. Of course, we also removed bugs and glitches, and we will continue to do that.” Though most interestingly, he would go on to say, “Over time, we will be introducing improvements to the general systems that players are paying attention to.” So if you are one of the three people still trying to play on a base PS4 you’re out of luck. You won’t be cared for after spending your hard-earned money, as not enough people will be around to show people are paying attention to that version of the game, probably.

I honestly just wish everyone at the top pushing for crunch periods and improperly managing the time or expectations of Cyberpunk 2077 would take responsibility. I just want them to pull their heads out of an Abe Edmondson and Rik Mayall production, and just admit to their complete and utter failure as directors, producers, and whatever else they have been playing at while sitting at the top. As I said months ago now, under a mountain of horrible performance and a torrent of bugs, there is something beautiful in that world. It’s just a shame a few people are still waiting on textures to load to find any of this out, at 15 frames-per-second.
