Ah, the great American outdoors. The smell of the open air, the gunfire, the religious psychopaths looking to hunt down anyone that defies them. It is a bit like being on Twitter and voicing an opinion that isn’t an extreme looking to gut someone for not being in 100% agreement with the majority’s views. It is a magical place full of clear open plains, forests, mountains, and everything you can think of. For some, it is a shame people come in with their points of view and ruin it. Instead of breaking lockdown protocol, you can ruin the rural lands of Montana with gunfire, religion, and a bit of a crap story.

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5, is free-to-play all this weekend. In fact, you can currently pre-load the game to start playing on the 29th through 31st of May. Announced yesterday in an early email blast, you can take on bearded men with a lack of personal hygiene for free this entire weekend. If you haven’t already tried this brutally mad installment, unlike others in the series, it sends endless hordes after you in a fit of hipster religion-based rage. Much like the third game, you can avoid the story entirely and still have a good time. The difference is that the third game was semi-competent with its story and villain.

While Vass was played beautifully, written well enough, and given all the tools to do something as a villain, Joseph Seed is cut from the same cloth the other boring one was. The only thing Seed does bring to the table is Ubisoft attempting to skirt around any political statement that could be pulled from having a large group of hairy men and women firing guns at the cops; all in the name of religion. To most of us from outside the bubble, it would be almost too on the nose if they weren’t what a 35-year-old man thinks a hipster looks like. However, tactical bear strikes are fun!

As I said, if you haven’t picked up Far Cry 5 before, you can at least try it now and pick up the standard edition for $15 or the Gold edition for just $22.50.
