I’ve heard nothing but good things about the game and community of Final Fantasy XIV. As a big Final Fantasy fan, it’s the only MMO that I’ve been very interested in giving a try for a while. Fortunately, I’ll still have some time to jump in before the latest expansion launches this July.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will be the fifth expansion for the acclaimed game and is available for pre-order starting today, March 26th. In terms of new content, this expansion will offer players a brand new story along with two new jobs: Pictomancer, and Viper. Alongside these features, you can also expect a host of new dungeons and boss battles. Furthermore, the max level cap will now increase to 100 allowing hardcore players another chance to grind.

Series director, Naoki Yoshida revealed the latest offerings for the expansion at Pax East, showcasing the collector’s edition which will come with a variety of items. This edition of the game will only be available for a limited time so order fast if you don’t want to miss out. Those who pre-order the collector’s edition will receive the exclusive Ark mount, a Wind-up Garnet Minion modeled on the character from Final Fantasy IX, and a Chocobo Brush weapon in addition to standard pre-order bonuses.

Meanwhile, the collector’s edition bundle will contain the game along with an art box featuring exclusive artwork from Yoshitaka Amano. Within this box, you can also expect to receive an updated cloth map featuring the newest locations debuting within this expansion, as well as a new statue featuring the series mascot, The Warrior of Light as the Viper job. Finally, the box will include a themed notebook and pen case. If you are looking to get your hands on the physical merchandise exclusively, Square Enix has announced that the collector’s box can be purchased as a standalone product.

Alternatively, those who pre-order the regular version of the Dawntrail expansion can also receive special rewards. For starters, players will be granted early access to the expansion. Square stated this will begin on June 28th, but all information is subject to change. Further pre-order bonuses come in the form of a Wind-up Zidane Minion and Azeyma Earrings. The earrings in particular are especially valuable considering they bestow you with a 30% EXP bonus for defeating enemies while also bestowing class-specific traits.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail will launch on July 2nd, 2024. The game is available through Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/5, Windows, and Mac. Until April 19th, those who purchase the Xbox Series X/S version can also receive some in-game rewards, such as Menphina’s Earrings and the Palom Minion.
