Monday, Street Fighter 6 had a showcase to excite people I find genuinely scary. Tuesday, Shadows of Doubt released into early access after I did a preview of the impressive though slightly stunted Poirot/Columbo ’em up. Wednesday, Dead Island 2 sold one-fifth of the copies that the original did in two years, and next week Steam is highlighting Polish games in its next game fest. Thursday, Honkai: Star Rail was released this week, and the fabulous wholesomeness that is Camper Van: Make It Home made its Kickstarter goal.

Moving on to this week’s double bill, we’ll start with the finale of Picard season 3, Poker Club. Sadly you can’t sit down with Worf and have a nap beforehand but you can play Ripstone’s poker variation on the Chess Ultra formula. Though it is a little poorly optimized due to Unreal being a resource hog on every system. As I said last week, the biggest thing Ripstone seems to be going for is the visual fidelity and general aesthetic of the typically physical-based games young people forgo now. When you don’t have Bev, Worf, Bill, and the rest, it is a way of playing poker!

Next up on the Epic Games Store is RedRuins Softworks’ Breathedge, a charming and warm exploration of the Subnautica-style deep, dark, dank, and coldness of space. Though it can’t go without saying that the recent January games available through Prime Gaming included Breathedge too. Makes you wonder what is next to be repeated between the storefront and service. If you’re like me and want a Subnautica without the horrors of the deep blue wet thing, then Breathedge might be for you in that regard, even if it is a little rougher around the edges than its wet counterpart.

All this week you can pick up Breathedge and Poker Club on the Epic Games Store until the morning of May 4th. Thankfully no Star Wars games on this side of services (so far) are on offer. We have a triple-bill next week, with only one repeat proposed: Horizon Chase Turbo will be joined by Kao the Kangaroo and Against All Odds. The former is an arcade racer with little fanfare to show for it, Against All Odds is a yet-to-be-released Action Hank-Like platformer, and the remaster of the 3D platformer Kao the Kangaroo rounds out the week.
