There are a few things that seem inevitable in gaming nowadays. Somewhere in the mix are microtransactions, inevitable studio acquisitions, and Fortnite collecting every IP on the planet for its game skins. Unfortunately, at the top of that list of inevitability is game delays. A title already plagued with delays, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, is once again reportedly being delayed to later this year according to a top reporter in the industry.

According to Jason Schreier at Bloomberg, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is being delayed until later this year. Currently slated for May, the game received less than stellar feedback from players at Sony’s recent State of Play event. There’s a fondness for the Rocksteady Arkham games that many feel might be lost forever. That presentation for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League certainly did the game’s doubters no favors.

Riddled with live-service features from top to bottom, fans seemed very uninterested in the product Rocksteady presented at the State of Play. It’s unlikely a delay now will change any core elements of the game. That said, Schreier says that some additional polish and fixes will be the focus for the added development time. The game was originally slated for 2022, then got bumped into 2023, and now will likely come in the second half of the year if May was too early of a target.

The game (in theory) should be a blast. Playing as villains turned antiheroes in the Suicide Squad should be a good time. Rocksteady Arkham gameplay mixed in with a plot featuring evil versions of our favorite DC heroes? Sign me up. Except, up until now, everything I’ve heard about this game has lessened my interest in it significantly.
