Apex Legends has remained a powerhouse, and even though its mobile release didn’t work out, the main version has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon. Even more eyes than usual are looking at the battle royale right now as it celebrates its fourth anniversary and its sixteenth season. From new content, free rewards, and even the debut of a highly-requested mode, there is a lot to check out. Here’s everything new that players can look forward to in Apex Legends.

The new season is titled Revelry. Although this will be the first season to not add in a Legend, that doesn’t mean it will leave players wanting. A new energy-class burst assault rifle called the Nemesis has been added. Meanwhile, for those looking for a more classic shooter experience, a 6v6 Team Deathmatch mode is finally available. It’s a limited-time mode for now and it’s expected to return in the future, but there’s no telling if it will come back permanently.

Some substantial gameplay changes have also been made. In addition to balance changes for every legend, they’re all being grouped into five classes. This new class system isn’t just for cleaning up the UI though. Each class has a unique perk to change things up, from being able to access a hidden compartment in blue supply bins (previously exclusive to Lifeline) to seeing the highest-tier loot item in a care package.

It wouldn’t be a new season if there weren’t any new content to unlock. Accompanying the battle pass is a set of events, the first of which is the community-created 4th Anniversary Collection event. Similar to last year’s third anniversary, a login rewards campaign is also running and allowing players to earn free legends. Crypto can be unlocked for logging in between February 14th-21st and Ash can be unlocked from February 21st-28th.

New players will also have a more enjoyable experience thanks to the new Orientation Matches, which are matches filled with bots that they’ll automatically be filtered into. Both new and seasoned players will be sure to like the numerous Firing Range updates as well. Whether you’ve never played Apex Legends before or never stopped playing, there’s something fun to work towards in this latest season. Further details on what’s new can be accessed through this season’s webpage.

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
