It’s been a few years since Ubisoft and developer Ivory Tower released the sequel to their expansive open-world racing game with 2018’s The Crew 2. It has been continuously supported ever since with multiple updates, the latest being launched in November 2022. On top of that, some vehicles were added as recently as in the last two weeks. Fans took notice of the official Twitter account for the series responding to a popular content creator in the community with a date and time, which coincided with the reveal of The Crew Motorfest.

As hefty as these four years of updates have been for The Crew 2, the team was also working on the next entry. Unlike the first two titles, the setting isn’t taking place in a scaled-down map representative of the mainland United States. Instead, the map is based on the ever-popular island of O’ahu in Hawaii.

According to an article by IGN that features quotes from senior creative director Stéphane Beley, it won’t be a complete 1:1 representation but will instead mix up different aspects of the entire state. The usage of the title “Motorfest” is also deliberate since both planes and boats will be making their return.

An Insider Program is also being held over the next few months and will allow participants to experience a closed test build. It’s being split into multiple phases that will continually add more players and more platforms. A behind-the-scenes video briefly going over the Insider Program can be seen below. Those wanting to register for the current or the upcoming phases can do so on the official website for The Crew Motorfest. A definite release date hasn’t been provided yet, but we do know that it will launch sometime this year on PC as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Samuel Moreno

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
