Maybe I am alone in my position here, but I still look back fondly at my time with Techland’s Dying Light 2: Stay Human. I say this, but I haven’t played much of it since the release, either from countless other releases to cover or a desire to play something else. Despite this, Techland has kept up with the free updates that tend to keep games like this ‘alive’ in the minds of those still playing or often returning, with the latest being the chapter: “A Huntress and a Hag.

Releasing yesterday in the latest update, the new chapter brings a new threat to Villedor, and as the press release states, “Join the Huntress and together face the great challenge that is the Hag!” Focused on hunting, you’ll join the Huntress (Shen Xiu) in bringing down the Hag and her horrifying Plaguebearers with a collection of new weapons. You’ll have access to the Hunter’s crossbow or Ballista Bow, and for those that are melee-focused, you’ll get the Basher. I wonder if that is a blunt object to clock against some heads?

As one might guess the Huntress is of course a range-focused character, and she’s the leader of a faction called the Hunters. I know, original. Tracking the biggest threat has led her to the city and to the Hag, the leader of her own faction of new enemies called the Plaguebearers. The Hag herself is a variation on the banshees and her infected underlings are humans infected. It might sound simple, but you might want to watch out as upon death, the new Plaguebearers will release a toxic fog turning nearby human enemies into infected instantly.

Paweł Płaza, Techland’s publishing product owner for Dying Light 2, notes, “We wanted to present players with a challenge like none they have seen before. The Hag is meant to be an extraordinary foe, powerful enough to even bend the game’s rules – making the Day in the City as dangerous and tense as the Night.” Płaza went on to say, “The hunt is on and you’ll have to be constantly on your toes if you don’t want to end up as the prey.” Going into more detail, Płaza joins “At The Fish Eye” host Nikolas to discuss Chapter 2.

Alongside the free update of chapter 2 comes 1.6.0, which also brings a number of gameplay fixes, including a glitch that caused a crash in the final cutscene. This collection of fixes and the chapter update comes ahead of the post-game DLC Bloody Ties releasing on the 13th of October. The new DLC will also bring players to a new location at the grand opening of The Carnage Hall.
