Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Automates Level Grinding

One of the more tedious parts of a Pokémon game is level grinding. The process isn’t difficult, but it is very time-consuming when it comes to helping your squad out ahead of high-level battles. The Experience Share mechanic certainly helps, but the new games in the series coming later this year will aid players even further. Here’s how Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will automate level grinding in a very player-friendly way.

A new feature announced on the Pokémon website previews something called Let’s Go! for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games. You can have one pokémon out and walking with you in the new games, akin to the original Pokémon Yellow feature. When you have a Pokémon exploring with you in the field, you can use the Let’s Go! feature to send that Pokémon off in the direction you indicate. The Pokémon you send out then independently picks up items in the area and even have Auto-Battles with nearby Pokémon.

Auto Battles are brand new for longtime fans of the series and might be divisive. As The Pokémon Company explains, the feature is a way to “explore every nook and cranny of the vast Paldea region.” The main perk here though is the fact that this will allow players to auto-level their Pokémon by sending them off to explore and battle. Rather than force players to grind wild Pokémon battles for experience, you can let them do the work for you.

Personally, I’m a big fan of this move. For players who need to boost their main roster’s experience by a few levels in the mid-to-late game, the grind can be exhausting. It gets to be tough to grind at later levels due to more experience needed to level up. This, however, helps you save your time and get the levels you need to take on the next gym or opponent.
