In news that may bring about déjà vu for some people, Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been delayed once again. The game was originally announced nearly a year ago at Gamescom 2021 and hit the ground running with gameplay overviews and showcases. Unfortunately, it would soon be announced that the Firaxis Games-developed tactical RPG wouldn’t make it to its initial March 2022 release date and would be delayed to later in 2022.

It would begin making the rounds again with a new trailer at Summer Game Fest back in June that revealed Spider-Man as a playable character and a new release date of October 7th. Starting in July the Youtube channel for the game has been focusing on one hero character each week with videos covering their history and gameplay showcases. With this steady stream of content, it’s only natural that people were surprised when the game’s release date was said to have been pushed back during Take-Two’s First Quarter earnings call on Monday. A statement was released soon after through the game’s official Twitter account.

As of right now, the release date has only been delayed until later on in the fiscal year, and for Take-Two that would be until March 2023. There’s nothing saying the game can’t release by the holidays, but delaying it within the vague time frame of “later this fiscal year” could mean a 2023 release and at the most a five-month delay.

Some looking to buy the game on older platforms will have to wait even longer as the release window is going to be staggered. Only the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions are currently expected to release later in the fiscal year. The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions have not been given the same time frame and are expected to follow sometime after.

Samuel Moreno

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
