We Are OFK Gets Episodic Release Dates

A few of us here at Phenixx Gaming have been following We Are OFK since its announcement. The concept of a real-life indie-pop band using a video game as a promotional tool, and integrating a heartfelt story with the release of an EP is unprecedented. That’s what makes it so brilliant though, and thanks to OFK and the development team, we now have more information on We Are OFK’s release.

We Are OFK will release episodically. The first two episodes will release on August 18^th. Episode 3 will release on August 25^th, while Episodes 4 and 5 will release on September 1^st and September 8^th respectively. Alongside each episode’s release, OFK and Sony Music Masterworks will release a new single from OFK’s debut EP.

In the trailer linked above, you can hear a snippet of the second song on the EP, titled “Fool’s Gold.” You’ll be able to play We Are OFK on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation consoles. Itsumi Saito, Keyboardist for OFK commented on the attention the group (and game) has been receiving, stating:

“People keep comparing us to Gorillaz or K/DA which like, amazing, but also this is Alvin & The Chipmunks erasure. Where’s the love for Josie and the Pussycats, they were gay right? Or uh Priss And The Replicants did anyone else here watch Bubblegum Crisis? Icons. I guess I’m trying to say… thanks!”

The press release also mentions the premise of We Are OFK, which reads: “We Are OFK follows the lives of four friends in their 20s as they attempt to break into the music business, fall in and out of love, and figure out how to pay rent and make art in Los Angeles.”

I am very excited to see (and hear) more from OFK through the lens of this carefully crafted story they’re wanting to tell. It will be interesting to play through the game, while also experiencing the story through the EP itself since I’m sure that the EP will enhance the experience of the game and vice versa. August 18^th isn’t that far away folks, stay tuned!
