I’ve been a fan of Digimon for a while. As a kid, Pokemon was more my style, but as I got older, I really enjoyed Digimon too. I haven’t really paid much attention to the development of Digimon Survive, but I follow a few people who have been following it and are incredibly excited. Now that the release date has been announced, I think I’ll start taking a closer look and prepare myself for the new release.

For the uninitiated, Digimon Survive is a Tactical RPG with visual novel elements. Thanks to the announcement by Bandai Namco, we know it will release on July 29th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is compatible with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as well, and you can now pre-order the game to get bonus content such as Guilmon and some HP support equipment.

Here is what the press release has to say about the game. “DIGIMON SURVIVE sends players to a mysterious world filled with dangerous monsters and deadly battles that will test their ability to survive. Stepping into the shoes of protagonist Takuma Momozuka, players will have the ability to directly impact the outcome of their adventure via a variety of potentially grim choices, including how their Digimon evolve, the way they bond with NPCs, and more.”

Included above is the newly released trailer for Digimon Survive, which highlights the “otherworldly setting and story” of Digimon Survive. I’m curious to see just how “grim” the game gets, considering the franchise has had some darker moments, and yet often shifts away from the darker aspects of it during any potential gaming tie-ins. Either way, July 29th will be coming sooner than any of us expect, and I’m sure fans of the franchise are waiting to see just how Digimon Survive turns out.
