Tad – The Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet Announced

I like talking about games and content that I’ve either never heard of or that come from a culture I’m not familiar with. This is especially the case when that subject crosses over into things I love, such as the 3D Action-Adventure genre that was popularized in the 90s and early 00s. Tad: The Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet, a video game adaptation of a Spanish franchise, is coming to PlayStation and Steam this year.

Tad: The Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet is a game adaptation of the “Tadeo Jones” franchise in Spain, which has a graphic novel, several movies, and other forms of media. From what I can gather, it has a bit of an Indiana Jones vibe (which makes sense given the name), and I really find the concept interesting. Here is what the press release has to say about the upcoming game.

“Gammera Nest announces that the official video game adaptation of Tad: The Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet will be released on PlayStation and Steam later this year. Tad: The Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet is a 3D action-adventure where players will visit iconic and exotic locations (Paris, Veracruz, Chicago, and El Cairo) in an epic journey to retrieve the emerald tablet while saving his friends.

This time, Tad has found himself in a huge mess. During one of his expeditions, our beloved explorer has unleashed an ancient curse, and now some of his friends have fallen under a wicked spell. To save them and save the world, Tad will have to travel with his long-life friends, solve puzzles, overcome platforming sections and climb buildings to solve the ancient mystery that pursues him.”

Personally, I’m interested to see Tad: The Lost Explorer and The Emerald Tablet come to Steam and PlayStation. I had never heard of the series before now, and I think that is a great thing. We need games that will alert us to new series/properties. Maybe I’ll try to find the movies after playing the game!
