Dead by Daylight’s 6th Anniversary is just around the corner, and with every anniversary of DbD comes an anniversary broadcast from the developers at BHVR. The developers use this livestream to highlight the future plans for the game. This includes the in-game celebration event for the anniversary and plenty of other goodies that will be released throughout the next year.

I have seen two anniversaries previous to this one since I started playing Dead by Daylight when the Silent Hill chapter was released for the game’s 4th-anniversary chapter. I have a lot to talk about with this one. Let’s look at the major announcements that were made during this broadcast!

Dead by Daylight Funko Pops

Funko Pops have become a staple of the collectible toy market. Any movie, tv-show, video game, rock band, or anything that is part of popular culture has at least one Funko Pop. Now, Dead by Daylight has entered into that category with their first line of Funko Pops that will be arriving by the end of this year! The first series is still in development, but the developers showed off the work in progress sketches of the first four.

The first four will include The Wraith, The Doctor, The Huntress, and Claudette Morel. Each of them is shown with the classic skins that they each started off with when they were introduced into the game. I’ll be crossing my fingers until they announce one for The Twins and one for Zarina Kassir!

Dead by Daylight New Chapter (Roots of Dread)

Releasing just about a week before the anniversary event begins, Roots of Dread will feature The Dredge as a new killer. Haddie Kaur is a new survivor and there is a brand new map that seems to be a twisted house of sorts. The Dredge’s perks are called Dissolution, Darkness Revealed, and Septic Touch, which all focus on dislodging survivors from looping and escaping killers through certain ways.

Haddie Kaur’s perks are called Inner Focus, Residual Manifest, and Overzealous, which all seem rather different from one another. However, they appear to focus on certain gameplay strategies that haven’t been focused on for a few chapters. Beyond all of these things, the chapter will also grant the survivors the ability to lock and unlock lockers throughout the map.

Hooked on You (A Dead by Daylight Dating Simulator)

The weirdest thing to come out of this broadcast, if not the strangest thing to come out of any announcement regarding Dead by Daylight, has to be Hooked on You. This upcoming game which will be released at some point in Summer 2022, will allow you to date some of the most iconic killers from the Dead by Daylight universe. It is being developed by I Love You, Colonel Sanders! creators Psyop.

You take control of an unnamed character who is trying to seduce The Trapper, The Huntress, The Wraith, and The Spirit, amongst potentially other killers who might join the game in the future. How the romance will work is anyone’s guess, but I really hope that things don’t end too bloody.

Dead by Daylight 2nd Resident Evil Chapter (Project W)

The most shocking, yet shortest reveal of the broadcast was the announcement that the chapter after Roots of Dread will be a second Resident Evil chapter. Titled Project W, this chapter will include the introduction of Wesker as a killer, Ada Wong, and Rebecca Chambers as survivors, as well as a brand new map.

While it is strange that the developers released this information when the chapter is so far from being done, their hands were probably forced by the account that leaked this chapter along with the Roots of Dread survivor and killer only days before the broadcast. While it is unfortunate that this reveal was leaked, the map is still under wraps, which still allows for plenty of speculation!

Dead by Daylight x Attack on Titan Cosmetic Collection

Manga and Anime fans should be on the lookout because Attack on Titan is coming to Dead by Daylight! While we might not be getting characters from the manga-turned-anime series, we are going to be getting a total of 10 outfits based off the series for various survivors and killers.

7 of the outfits were not shown off. However, we were able to get a look at the other three. The first one is for Dwight Fairfield, the second one is for Zarina Kassir, and the third is for The Oni. Dwight’s outfit is based on Eren Yaeger, Zarina’s is based on Hange Zoë, while the Oni’s skin is essentially a miniature Armored Titan.

Dead by Daylight Anniversary Event

With every anniversary, comes anniversary cosmetics and cakes! While the cake may be familiar to veteran Dead by Daylight fans, this year’s cosmetics are taking a different vibe from previous celebrations. In the past, the anniversary events would award crowns to certain characters that interact with podiums that have spawned in the realm.

This year, the crowns are replaced with masks that can be unlocked for The Artist, The Deathslinger, The Huntress, The Spirit, The Trapper, The Trickster, Ace Visconti, Elodie Rakoto, Dwight Fairfield, Jane Romero, Mikaela Reid, and Yui Kimura. The decorations will also be different as a new mysterious benefactor is putting on the Twisted Masquerade, one with an unknown tie to the entity.

That is all for this breakdown of the major announcements that came out of the Dead by Daylight 6th Anniversary Broadcast! There are plenty of game improvements, experiments, and bug fixes that the developers also talked about. However, I decided to leave those things out since the Behaviour Interactive team is constantly tinkering with those parts of the game behind the scenes. In my personal opinion, this anniversary broadcast was a bit of a letdown. Though I think that mainly stems from the fact that the chapter coming with the anniversary is not a licensed one.
