Wholesome Adventure Aka Gets Release Window

Red Pandas have gotten a bit of a resurgence recently thanks to films such as Turning Red. It seems more cute, animated Red Panda action is coming, thanks to Cosmic Gatto and Indie publisher NEOWIZ. Cosmic Gatto is a former Dreamworks animator who is developing Aka, a wholesome experience coming later this year.

Announced to be released in Q4 of 2022, Aka is the next game released by Cosmic Gatto, who received awards for his game A Trip to the Moon back in 2020. Here is what the press release has to say about Aka.

“NEOWIZ is proud to announce Aka, an indie experience like no other that is being prepared for release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in Q4 2022. The game has been lovingly created and developed by “Cosmic Gatto”, a professional animator who has worked for the illustrious Dreamworks Studio in the past. He is also an award-winning developer of A Trip to the Moon which was voted 1st Rank at Github Game Jam 2020.

AKA brings players a rare opportunity to play a wholesome fully-featured adventure that is as beautiful as it is insightful. Players take on the role of Aka, a retired red panda soldier seeking inner peace. His task is to seek out Ghosts to bring them closure while simultaneously settling on a small island and building his home.

Features include:

Exploration and decoration of the islands by crafting and farming.
A wide array of mini-games.
Peaceful activities such as taking a nap, looking at a cloud, swimming, and more.
Help the island denizens by interacting with them and helping them solve their problems.”

I love the look of Aka, and I think the aesthetic definitely fits the cute premise of a warrior trying to live a life of peace. It gives me Spiritfarer vibes in its premise but also mixed with something like Cozy Grove too. Hopefully, we’ll get more information and a firm release date soon. Aka will be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam.
