Rogue Legacy 2 Gets 1.0 Release Date

As you can no doubt tell by now, Rogue Legacy is one of the Epic Games Store freebies this week! However, fans such as myself of the Rogue-lite classic got some even better news today. Rogue Legacy 2, which has been in Early Access since August of 2020, will release at the end of this month in full. To celebrate this, Cellar Door Games released a new cinematic trailer.

Rogue Legacy 2, is set to officially launch on PC and Xbox consoles on April 28th, 2022. Here is what the press release has to say. “Rogue Legacy 2 surpasses its predecessor by building upon its manor and improving almost every area of the game. From a brand new art style (3D characters set against stunning hand-drawn backgrounds), all new weaponry, abilities, and classes, as well as fresh biome generation for greater strategic choice, the scope and ambition of Rogue Legacy 2 are vast.

The sequel also introduces Heirlooms to truly push that unique Metroidvania feel by permanently giving heroes new abilities. Alongside this, Rogue Legacy 2 vastly improves traits to bring greater value to their risk versus reward gameplay, as well as making significant strides in accessibility to let players succeed even when they’re struggling.

Set to launch on April 28th, 2022, between now and its release date Rogue Legacy 2 can be purchased on Steam and Epic as an Early Access title. Players can also dive into its predecessor, Rogue Legacy, ahead of the sequel’s official release by visiting the Epic Games Store to claim their free copy between April 7-14th!”

Cellar Door Games also made a statement about their intentions with developing Rogue Legacy 2, stating: “Rogue Legacy 2 is finally reaching v1.0 and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Our goal for Rogue Legacy 2 was always to make “Rogue Legacy 3” because we didn’t want to settle for just more. It had to stay true to the original but also stand on its own as something new. After nearly four years of development, bringing it to the fans is the final step in this long journey, and we hope they find it as special as we do.”

As a fan of the original game, I am very excited to see Rogue Legacy 2 in full. The development team has had plenty of time to polish and take community feedback, and that can only be a good thing for fans. April 28^th can’t come soon enough.
