A few months back, I read an article that talked about the new and growing game development community in China. Due to varying challenges such as limits on who can make games, China’s gaming industry has been largely nonexistent outside of the mobile market for a while. Now that this is changing and more Chinese developers are coming to the scene, Steam has prepared a new showcase to spotlight some of these new titles.

Enter the Dragon is an all-new Steam Showcase that was announced by indie game publisher Pixmain. It will take place from April 22nd to April 29th. Here is what the press release has to say about the upcoming showcase.

Indie video game publisher Pixmain is pleased to reveal Enter the Dragon, its inaugural event featured on Steam that will showcase the latest, most exciting upcoming games and releases developed in Mainland China and Taiwan. The week-long event aims to shine a spotlight on both indie games and the latest blockbusters due for release to players globally.

Enter the Dragon takes place from April 22nd to 29th and promises to be a celebration of the talent, creativity, and gaming experiences coming out of the Greater China region. The event was created in response to the challenges developers faced following the global restrictions on international travel and live events that made it difficult for developers to showcase their unique games to global gamers.

The event will feature prominent developers and publishers such as bilibili, Lightning Games, Yooreka Studio, Thermite Games, indienova, and many more indie newcomers from across Mainland China and Taiwan, all coming together to showcase the creativity and innovation of their PC games. The week will offer exclusive first looks, playable demos, all-new English language trailers, and an insight into the latest developments of upcoming titles.

The showcase will include an opening night show, publisher spotlights with dedicated virtual stage spots, and an all-star games stream with appearances from a series of Twitch streamers from around the world. Throughout the week there will also be discounts and bundles available for all the games involved that have already launched.

Jeff Huang, organizer of Enter the Dragon and Head of Publishing at Pixmain also commented, stating: “A number of studios in Mainland China and Taiwan rely on getting their games in front of the global gaming community at events to build their fanbase, gain exposure and gather feedback early on. Even after two years, there are still restrictions on travel and very few event opportunities. We’re hoping Enter the Dragon will fill a need by offering developers and publishers a chance to take their products to the virtual stage and gain visibility globally.

I’m always excited to see more people getting a place at the proverbial table, to share the gaming space. More games by different groups of people can only be a good thing eh?
