A brand new Sony State of Play took place this week. With it came an exciting mix of announcements and information on games already announced. Here is a rundown of everything that went on during the State of Play, including each game that was shown.

Exoprimal

Exoprimal is a new IP developed by renowned developer Capcom. Initially, it made me think fans were getting a new Dino Crisis game however this is not the case. Exoprimal will see teams of five players take on endless waves of dinosaurs that are being transported to their world through an unknown vortex. Players will be able to adapt to any situation on the fly by changing executes mid-battle to cover any possible situation. Exoprimal is expected to launch in 2023 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Ghostwire Tokyo

Ghostwire Tokyo was first announced back in 2019, since then we have seen many changes made to the game. This includes the fact that creative director Ikumi Nakamura left the project later that same year. Ghostwire Tokyo is finally making its way to gamers on March 25, 2022, and showed off a new story trailer showing creepy Yokai and some fun, action-packed gameplay.

Stranger’s Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin 

Stranger’s Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is releasing a new playable demo ahead of its launch on March 18th, 2022. The demo will let players play the first three stages of the game. It will also allow you to bring your progress into the main game.

Forspoken 

After its delay just a few days ago Forspoken was shown off to remind us all that it still certainly exists. Nothing new was shown besides some great gameplay that looks to improve the magic systems from Final Fantasy XV with some truly impressive particle effects. Look forward to Forspoken on October 11th, 2022.

Gundam Evolution 

Gundam Evolution is a free-to-play 6v6 multiplayer game that consists of 3 competitive game modes Point capture, Domination, and Destruction. There will be 12 different Gundam for players to choose from. They are all unlocked from the beginning and range from different Gundam series for fans. A network test will be available in the west starting sometime this spring. The full game launches later this year.

Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection

For fans of the shelled heroes, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cowabunga Collection is a collection of 13 games and will launch later this year on all platforms for USD 39.99. The collection includes:

  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game

  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time

  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of The Foot Clan
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Back From The Sewers
  • -Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Radical Rescue

Giga Bash

If you (like myself) are a fan of Godzilla and other Kaiju adventures, Giga Bash may be up your alley. You may want to keep an eye on Giga Bash which includes a roster of 10 different Kaiju inspired by various Godzilla, Ultraman, and other Kaiju and Tokusatsu properties. It is an “All Out Monsters Attack” fighter launching first on PlayStation 4 and 5 later this year.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Stars Battle 

A remake of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Stars Battle is set to release early this fall for all of you Jojo fans out there! It is a stylish fighter with 50 playable characters from every single Jojo arc. It also contains multiple game modes, so fans will have a lot to sink their teeth into later this year.

Trek to Yomi

Trek to Yomi seems to be slowly crawling up in popularity as a 2D black and white Kurosawa-inspired samurai game that is violent and bloody. Trek to Yomi is a love letter to Japanese culture and aims to be as authentic as possible. Look forward to Trek to Yomi later this year on both PlayStation 4 and 5.

Returnal Expansion 

Returnal is receiving its 3.0 update on March 22, dubbed Returnal: Ascension. Players can go have friends join them on their space-faring adventure. Returnal also will receive a new playable area called The Tower Sisyphus, a new endless mode for players’ skills to be fully tested.

The Diofield Chronicle

This new IP from Square Enix, The DioField Chronicle is a real-time strategy game from the veterans of the Final Fantasy series. It contains modern influences and an epic story of war and conquest, with heavy influences from Final Fantasy XII. The DioField Chronicle is set to release on both PlayStation 4 and 5 later this year.

Valkyrie Elysium

Valkyrie Elysium is a new entry in the Valkyrie series. The Valkyrie series is an RPG franchise inspired by Norse mythology. This Action-RPG oriented entry will release later this year for PS4 and PS5. We don’t know much else yet, but more information should be coming soon.
