I never actually got around to playing Redout, despite it being an award-winning racing title. I’ve always heard good things about it, but it was just never really on my radar. Inspired by games such as Wipeout and F-Zero, Redout has established itself amongst the anti-gravity racing crowd. Now it seems a sequel is on the horizon, thanks to an announcement by Saber Interactive and developer 34BigThings.

According to the press release: “the sequel to the award-winning Redout is coming to PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2022. Redout 2 is the next generation of the hit series where racing through the dystopian wastelands of Earth is one of the galaxy’s most popular sports.

A tribute to classic AG racing legends like Wipeout and F-Zero, Redout 2 carries on this legacy with lightning-fast speed, adrenaline, and action combined with stunning visuals and audio. Reach impossible speeds in exhilarating futuristic races across an expansive single-player campaign and competitive online multiplayer featuring in-depth controls, robust hovership customization, and a killer original soundtrack.

The announcement also revealed an extensive career mode with over 36 race tracks, single-player and multiplayer modes, along with an original futuristic soundtrack. Additionally, you can customize your hovership with 12 different chassis, as well as a variety of propulsors, stabilizers, rudders, intercoolers, flaps, magnets, wings, spoilers, rocket engines, paints, and more! The developers have also revealed that the game will have a photo mode, so you can capture your most intense racing moments to share with others!

You can wishlist Redout 2 on Steam now, and it will be available on Steam, Epic, and all major consoles sometime in 2022. They haven’t given a specific launch date yet, though I’m sure it’ll come sometime between now and the summer, since release dates are plentiful around E3 time.
