I think it is easy to say that the reception to CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 has been somewhat less positive than that of their prior big-budget RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. I don’t think anyone will disagree with me there, and if I am honest, they have a point for the god-awful and offensive state that this game released in December of 2020. However, time has marched on mercilessly and dragged us with it kicking and screaming. Somewhere in there, CD Projekt Red have made some updates. Have they fixed all the bugs? No, but cars can drive properly now and cops appear further away instead of being beamed in by Scotty.

As noted by PC Gamer, Steam users have taken the game from its maligned status for its broken state across the board, to a mostly positive one. As quest director Pawel Sasko stated on Twitter, “[In the] last [few] days #Cyberpunk2077 received a flood of very positive reviews on Steam from the new players. You can’t imagine what it means to me.” Unlike PC Gamer, I’ll refrain from pulling quotes from half-written reviews mindlessly praising something picked up on a Steam sale, because I’ll rip them to bits pointing out inconsistencies.

As reviews note, there are still some bugs and there are positives still within the game, as I said many times before. Nonetheless, as I’ve also said, the state of the game is/was abhorrent for the hype built around it, and still has quite a few issues. A majority of the issues seem to be from console ports, however, the PC port has been given more attention than those since they were reinstated back onto storefronts. If you are going to pick it up, be cautious.
