Just this past weekend was November 7th. It may have been just another Sunday for some, but for Mass Effect fans, it was N7 Day, an annual event that celebrates the Mass Effect series. While there have been some slower years that just featured tweets or DLC skins for an entirely different game, some years have had bigger announcements such as last year’s announcement of the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. Unsurprisingly, with the latter’s success and fans still excited from the announcement of a new entry during The Game Awards last year, people were looking forward to the date.

Initially, it wasn’t too exciting. Bioware put up a blog post to talk about why they love N7 Day and announce sales, steam stickers, cosplay guides, and a Giphy page. There was also some cool merchandise to look at among replica figures and art prints. The biggest highlight was an infographic image about the various choices players made while playing Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. It’s a big one and has a lot of spoilers for the series in it, so I’ll just leave it to be found in the link to the blog post above.

The blog ended with the hope that fans will continue to support the series as they work on the next iteration. It’s not quite what people wanted and with the Mass Effect Twitter just making individual tweets from what was announced in the blog, everyone wrote it off as another less-than-eventful celebration. Thankfully, that sullen depression only lasted for a few hours until they tweeted a poster for the next game.

There are still scant details about the game, especially in regards to whether there will be canon choices from the original trilogy and if Mass Effect: Andromeda will be related to it. Fans have zoomed into every pixel to figure out who these potential crew members are, while others noticed that the crater looks reminiscent of a geth head. My fingers are crossed that we’ll have more news sooner than later. For now, we have a curious poster to dissect. The poster can be seen below, while a higher resolution version of it can be downloaded on EA’s Mass Effect page.

Samuel Moreno

Samuel (he/him) has been obsessed with video games since he was a kid watching bumbling zombies shuffle down a hallway in Resident Evil 20+ years ago (it's debatable if he should have seen a mature-rated game at that age but he's personally okay with it). His hobby of writing and talking people's ears off about video games has always felt like a perfect match. Feel free to let him talk your ear off on Twitter!: https://twitter.com/xxsammorenoxx
