While the Fallout Worlds update is still relatively new, Bethesda has pushed the next major update to the public test server. This update is titled Night of the Moth and as you may be able to guess, is very Mothman focused.

This update brings with it the Mothman Equinox. This event will have players defending a group of Mothman followers called the Enlightened. The Enlightened are trying to perform a ritual to summon the Wise Mothman when his power is at its peak. While the Enlightened are performing the ritual, players will have to defend them from rival groups that want to put a stop to the ritual.

While the seasonal event is ongoing, players will be able to find cultist high priests across the wasteland. These high priests are able to control nearby creatures and command them to attack you. Killing and looting a high priest allows the player a chance at rare event plans.

The other major part of this update is the public event and quality of life improvements. Many public events are being slightly reworked. The cooldown timer is much more consistent and the same event will not occur back to back.

Public events will also have possible reward information added to the information box shown when players attempt to fast travel to an event. The final change to events is difficulty and time balancing. Some events are considered too difficult to be handled without 2 or 3 teams worth of people helping out. These events are being tweaked to make them more easily completed by smaller groups and less experienced players.

Other public events are known to drag on forever and some end too quickly for players to participate. These events are also receiving changes by having total enemy wave counts raised or lowered and timers shortened or extended. The full list of events and their changes can be found here.

The quality-of-life improvements that are coming with the update are fixes to problems that plague the community. The most notable of these improvements is the new corpse highlights and nearby corpse looting. Both of these changes are mostly self-explanatory.

The corpse highlight will make nearby corpses glow and stand out from the foliage and water. Regular creature corpses and legendary creature corpses will glow different colors. That way if you only want to loot the legendary corpse you will know exactly which one it is.

The nearby corpse looting feature will make events like Radiation Rumble much easier to clean up at the end. Previously, you would need to loot each and every corpse individually. This could cause issues when more than one corpse is stacked on top of each other as it could be quite difficult to target the right body to loot.

This was slightly fixed with meat piles, by making corpses turn into them when there were too many corpses in a small area. Meat piles would also disappear when you looted them, so stacked meat piles wouldn’t cause an issue. However, not all corpses would turn into meat piles, and looting a bunch of meat piles was still very tedious.

Nearby corpse looting will alleviate all these issues. When you are looting one corpse and other corpses are nearby, an option to view nearby corpses will be shown and this will allow all nearby loot to be collected at once. There are many more quality of life changes that are coming with the Night of the Moth update so be sure to look over the section in the patch notes. The update can currently be played on the test server and Bethesda is planning to release this update in December.
