With this news, I think I know what we’ll all be playing for the six-billionth time, Dark Souls (1) and 3. That or prey to the god Imhotep for a Bloodborne PS5 update soon to make it at least playable, in the meantime. Nonetheless, fans of the FromSoft staple of games that actually make you feel like they are trapping your genitals in the car door and hitting you over the back of the head with a shovel got some bad news yesterday afternoon. It was announced that the highly anticipated latest game from the Japanese developer, Elden Ring, has been delayed, but not by much.

Announced earlier this year for the 21st of January, 2022 for PC, the Xbox family of consoles, and the PS4 and PS5, the new date isn’t a long stretch beyond that. The 25th of February is the new day we’re all chanting as we dance around our pentagrams surrounded by candles dripping on the floor, and plushies of cartoon characters. Ok, the pentagram bit onward might just be me. Nonetheless, the game will only take a few extra weeks to be released onto all platforms. “[T]he depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations,” is the reason given in the tweet announcing the delay.

However, fans of the FromSoft developed and Bandai Namco published games prior to this will have gotten emails notifying them of upcoming network testing. Announced for the console versions alone across 12th to November 15th, you’ll have until the 1st of November to register for the closed test. If you don’t have an email to register, you can do so over on the Elden Ring website here for Europe and here for the Americas. For those looking for details on the network test, the FAQ answers all of them here.
