I think I speak for everyone when I say, take all the time in the world. The knee-jerk reaction when a delay is announced is to yell “boo,” throw your arms up, and pretend the world is shattering around your ears for some reason. I’ll never understand this, especially when we watch it every time a game is either promoted to the moon and back or rushed, sometimes both. There is disappointment and repeated expressions from consumers about never touching another product from X publisher/developer again. After 2K19 had some unfinished edges, fans decried it as abhorrent. Then 2K20 made a mess of the bed, and 2K Battlegrounds continues to eat glue in the corner.

This weekend had some pretty big news break and events happen. As some bloke that no one heard of called CM Punk showed up on the “other side,” SummerSlam was certainly a show, and an Austrian bloke best described as the house you poo in was knocked over by a small Russian with a chest as red as an army once was. Yet, lost in all of these events was the latest trailer of WWE 2K22, which didn’t look as polished as you’d expect by now. Often with an October release, there would normally be a release date by now. Pre-orders would already have started, and you’d have seen much more. Somehow that hasn’t happened.

Instead, the news coming from SummerSlam was that the latest game from 2K-sports won’t be releasing this year, making 2K22 the first in the series to release the year it is suggested to be set in. We don’t have a substantial date set just yet, as there is more to come. Looking at the trailer released during the show of the summer, there is still an abundance of work to be completed. However, we did get a general release of March 2022. Ridicule the delay if you want, though it seems rather ludicrous to ask for a level of polish that is deserving of your money and also request for it to be done faster.
