Since the release of The Witcher’s first season, it has been a pretty successful IP for Netflix. Along with the animated film Nightmare of the Wolf, and the upcoming Season 2, people have eagerly awaited The Witcher: Blood Origin. Now, Netflix has unveiled a few new cast members for the upcoming 6-episode prequel series.

British comedian Lenny Henry will join the cast as a character named Balor, while Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander) will play Eredin, whom keen-eyed Witcher fans will recognize as the name of the King of the Wild Hunt. Since this is a prequel, we will likely get to see the beginnings of what the Wild Hunt is, and what they’re after. Check out the Twitter thread below for a full list with images.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will show the world of The Witcher 1200 years before the main series and will reportedly show the first prototype Witcher. In addition, it will shed light on The Conjunction of the Spheres event that brought multiple realms together and brought monsters into the world of The Witcher.

Other actors that were announced include Zach Wyatt (Karen Pirie) in the role of Syndril, Nathaniel Curtis (It’s A Sin) portraying Brían, and Mirren Mack (The Nest) as Merwyn. Additionally, Lizzie Annis will portray a character called Zacaré, Huw Novelli (The Capture) will play Brother Death, Francesca Mills (Harlots) will be Meldof, and Amy Murray is cast as Fenrik.

We currently don’t have a release date for The Witcher: Blood Origin, but the second season of The Witcher will release on the 17th of December. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will launch on August 23rd on Netflix. It is a great time to be a fan of The Witcher-verse, and with a new Witcher game seemingly far away, fans will at least have a lot to watch to tide them over.
