The start to 2021 has been fairly steady for game releases. We knew a slow start was likely considering the pandemic’s continued impact on the world. That said, many projects are on schedule including a new release from the EA and DICE series Battlefield. The series might not be the world’s most popular shooter franchise but it’s remarkably consistent across its releases. We now know that we’re getting a better look at Battlefield 6, title pending, and what it might include in terms of gameplay, setting, and new features.

In a reveal on Twitter, the official Battlefield account revealed that a new announcement about the sixth entry in the series will occur on June 9th. Seems fitting, doesn’t it? There’s a lot of great things that happen in this franchise that I think get overlooked. There’s no denying the popularity of its main competitor, Call of Duty. Activision Blizzard makes a lot of its annual revenue on that series, and EA seemingly gains a similar income from its war shooter series. That said, it’s less in the limelight than the Activision franchise.

There’s not much to consider when it comes to what players want from the Battlefield franchise. Many just want to be able to play with huge matchmaking lobbies and get a real, intense multiplayer experience. The campaigns in Battlefield games are always good but not often great. A good single-player experience could really put this series ahead in a big way.
