By all accounts that I’ve come into contact with over the last few days following “Wrestle-Rain-ia,” Night 1 of WrestleMania 37 was a fun night, and the second was… A thing with wrestling. I honestly don’t know, I’ve been too busy to watch a majority of two nights of wrestling, with one match including Logan Paul. The less I say about that useless cretin, the better I think. However, night 1 did feature something I will talk about, something that has me as excited as mother nature ahead of WrestleMania.

2K Games and WWE are at it again, with another wrestling game set to do something later this year, though we don’t know exactly what that will be. Is that a jab at the quality of recent games? You are on the money there! In 2019, ahead of the pandemic that we’re still in, WWE and 2K released 2K20, which by all accounts wasn’t great. Then last year, the two were on the double and going two for two, as WWE 2K Battlegrounds slopped out to middling reviews from others. I derided it and even called it the worst game of last year. Even David didn’t enjoy that one.

Call me a fool if you must, but I am kind of hoping they aren’t going three for three on the trot. We only got a small glimpse of a very nice-looking Rey Mysterio and the very same Rey Mysterio kicking the face-off of Cesaro with the 619 in the teaser trailer. As I’ve said, we don’t know much as the trailer was more or less shouting that there will not be another bloody 2K Battlegrounds (thank Jesús!). Even the press release is rather light, describing the video with PR fluff.

Though we do know the game is going under the tagline “It Hits Different.” Here is hoping it hits differently than 2K Battlegrounds, when it hit the floor headfirst and died an excruciating death; At least, I assume that’s what me verbally kicking it to death felt like. Though, and take this with the pinch of salt I don’t want to taste, the rumors surrounding 2K21‘s cancelation and later 2K22‘s announcement is the possible return of the GM mode. Nothing at this time has been confirmed, though can’t I just have a little bit of hope?
