Believe it or not, but I am not the biggest fan of JRPGs. I believe it is something to do with that whole dyslexia thing I have to deal with and work around a lot of the time. However, there are a few that really do it for me and break out of the mold of JRPGs enough to make me like them. One such title is the Nintendo DS cult-classic that I’d recently been replaying and I have sitting right next to me now, The World Ends With You.

Earlier this year it was announced that the beloved DS title will be getting a sequel. NEO: The World Ends with You is set to release on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on the 27th of July, with a PC release expected later this summer on the Epic Games Store. This time it brings the world of Tokyo’s Shibuya district into full anime-like 3D wonder with a new cast of characters. It follows Rindo as he explores the district and uncovers the “Reaper’s Game.”

Alongside Rindo is a colorful cast of my new favorite emos and fashion victims: Nagi, Fret, Minamitmoto, Shiba, Susukichi, Tsugami, Fuya, Kanon, Motoi, Kariya, Uzuki, Coco, Kubo, Ayano, Kaie, Hishima, and Shoka. All of them are shown in the latest trailer showcasing a little bit of gameplay, the cast (and their voice actors), and of course, the release date. It mostly shows off the battles, a few cut scenes, and how you’ll dress to be at the height of Shibuya fashion.

Alongside the announcement of the release date, you can now also pre-order the game for PS4 in both physical and digital forms, with only the physical version available for the Nintendo Switch currently. Personally, I now can’t wait for July the 27th.
