Let’s make it clear, the 7th Star Wars film was alright, nothing special just a fun little flick. The 8th is the best in the entire series and anyone that disagrees is objectively wrong. It was actually trying to do something and it was fun. The 9th film was a return to pleasing the lowest common denominator of the people who demand we explore every inch of the Star Wars franchise, even if it was meant to just be a fun little space adventure. If you’ve been around here long enough, you know where to send the hate mail, and the spin-off films are just a bit crap anyway.

Why am I talking about that? Well, the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, (all 9 films) has been delayed, again. The game was announced back in 2019 during the Xbox E3 conference, with a small trailer for it at the time and a general 2020 release date. Then it was delayed until Spring this year, which is now that shrugging emoticon that I use a little bit too much. TT Games released a statement on Twitter noting the delay: “All of us at TT Games are working hard to make LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga the biggest and best-ever Lego Game – But we’re going to need more time to do it. We won’t be able to make our intended spring release date, but will provide updated launch timing as soon as possible.”

Of course, this has sparked anger in a tiny part of the fanbase, with one of the top tweets stating, “How hard is it to make a F**king [LEGO] game[?]” Well, young one, when you are trying to make something well instead of Cyberpunk 2077‘s messy release, it is clearly harder than you think. Ok, yes, that’s just me taking a stab at the youth and their inability to understand that these things are harder than yelling at a screen because Jar Jar Binks showed up like the Microsoft paper clip, again. It turns out trying to squeeze out nine films worth of lore, animate that into a silent film style of slapstick comedy and (sadly) add voice acting, might take some time.

You see, back in my day, we had the prequel trilogy in the LEGO form, and let’s be honest, it was the best thing to come from those prequels. However, they were entirely slapstick, like they were a Norman Wisdom film. They were quite funny and often fun to play. The more recent TT Games, including this upcoming Saga, are adding voice acting and full scenes (though not actors from the films) to tell the story with a few extra gags. Personally, I am not a fan of the voice acting, though The Skywalker Saga will allow you to stomp across the three trilogies in this new release… whenever it is set to come.
