Last year, when the ongoing pandemic started affecting us all, the people at Sony started the “Play At Home Initiative” and were kind enough to give away some free games for everyone owning a PS4 to keep. No subscription to PlayStation Plus required. They gave away Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection as well as the masterpiece that is Journey. Gamers in Germany and China got Knack 2 instead, for whatever reason.

This year, they’re doing it all again, but on a slightly bigger scope. The plan is to give away one game each month, starting in March and lasting until June. Meaning we will get four games to keep in total. Once again, they are completely free. Don’t expect any recent games, but I’m sure the ones they picked will be a good way to pass the time in the coming months without having to spend a lot of money.

Sony is starting things off by giving away Ratchet & Clank PS4. The game, which was developed by Insomniac Games and came out back in 2016, tells the origin stories of the eponymous heroes with action-packed gameplay and a good sense of comedy as well. The game will become available starting March 1st and will be up for grabs until March 31st, so you’ll have an entire month’s time to pick it up. The game was originally released on the PS4, but thanks to the PS5’s backward-compatibility, it will be playable on the new hit-console as well.

Which games will be given away in April, May, and June is not yet known, but I’m assuming Sony will announce April’s game by the end of March. With the past and coming lineup, however, I’m sure that there’ll be something for everyone among these four games.

Hey there! I'm Aaron, 26 and from Germany. I mostly play games with a stronger emphasis on a good story, but occasionally can be found delving into a genre I'm not too accustomed to. Diversity and accessibility are important aspects in gaming for me as well, which are always important conversations to have for me personally.
