A lot of people want a PS5 or Xbox Series X. There are a lot of gamers excited about what each company is going to offer in the new generation. Unfortunately, 2020 is a horrible year that led to a perfect storm for terrible pre-order experiences. Here’s why so many are disappointed in their fare for the pre-order process.

The worst part of the pandemic this year is certainly the medical and health toll wreaking havoc on the U.S. and beyond. Likewise, many production factories simply aren’t manufacturing at full power. Mix this together with a relatively huge release like the PS5 and Xbox Series X and things were doomed from the start. Since Spring, we’ve had our eyes on a Holiday 2020 release point for both companies. With both opting to launch in November, manufacturers simply weren’t going to meet demand.

Likewise, there are a ton of people who lost out on pre-order chances to scalpers. With many listings already up on resale sites that cost $800+, it’s horrible to see so many legitimate pre-orders manipulated like this. At the end of the day, supply and demand are the name of the game, and some choose to take advantage of that amoral truth to capitalism.

When you went to pre-order a console, whether it was Sony or Microsoft, you likely also ran into another issue. Websites simply couldn’t handle the demand asked of them by gamers. Mix this all together and it’s no wonder why so many feel left out right now. Hopefully, better days are to come for those seeking a new console after launch or early into 2021. I wouldn’t hold your breath though.
