Rumors have surfaced on the nature of Resident Evil 8, with details including enemy types, protagonists, and more. Although Capcom has been more focused on the Resident Evil remakes, fans of the last mainline title, Resident Evil 7, have been expecting a sequel to Ethan’s story. Though the series changed quite a bit from the previous games, aiming for a more action survival-rather than a survival-horror game; Resident Evil 7 went back to its roots in that regard. However, the formula still had some changes, including a first-person camera view, and a new character and plot altogether.

Now according to the leak, Capcom is to let Resident Evil 8 will follow in the footsteps of 7 and will be sharing similar mechanics. The rumors report that Ethan will return as a playable character, the first person view will remain unchanged, and Chris Redfield is to make an appearance in some sort. The setting is to be in a snowy village near the mountains and later will take place in a castle in said village.

Resident Evil 8 also seeks to bring back certain enemy types from previous games such as the traditional zombie type enemies, and wolf/dog-like creatures. The report also claims there will be a “persistent shadowy female like enemy, chasing us at most parts of the game but will dissipate if shot at,” which would seem like the game’s version of a Nemesis or Mr. X.

Though these are just rumors and haven’t been confirmed by Capcom itself, these additions aren’t beyond the realm of possibility for a Resident Evil game. After all, Capcom is known for rehashing or renewing gaming mechanics that work from their games, mainly the mechanics fans love.

Capcom is working on a variety of Resident Evil projects, including the Resident Evil 3 Remake due in April. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Resident Evil 8 is among said projects. If all the details from the leak are to be believed, Resident Evil 8 is sure to be another interesting installment in the series.
