Sony is back with its new video conference style announcements, State of Play! In today’s State of Play, we saw a new game by the Katamari creator, LA Noire VR coming to PlayStation VR, and a limited edition Death Stranding PlayStation 4 Pro.

Sony started off the video with a new game called Humanity from Tetris Effect developer Enhance. The new game seems to be some sort of tower defense game, but it was hard to tell by the trailer alone. In the trailer, you see humans fighting, flying, and shooting thousands of other humans climbing a wall, World War Z style. Humanity will release in 2020 with an optional VR mode.

Next up we got a reminder that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is coming on October 25th, 2019 with a story trailer and a reveal that this years’ survival mode will be PS4 exclusive for a while after launch.

Wattam had me scratching my head in utter bewilderment. It looks to be a game about reconnecting people by…blowing them up? It was odd but also charming and with Keita Takahashi (creator of Katamari) at the helm, Wattam is sure to be another cult classic. Wattam will be coming to PS4 in December of this year.

Arise: A Simple Story promises an emotional journey… literally. You start off the game as an old man who was burned on his funeral pyre and now has to relive his life as he walks through limbo. It looks absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait for Piccio’s new game coming soon.

We also got a shortlist of VR titles coming soon as well.

  • LA Noire VR Case files will be available to purchase today!
  • Gorn looks like an arena fighter and is coming this winter.
  • Espire1 VR Operative seems to be a stealth game and will be released this September.
  • Stardust Odyssey is a space combat game that will be released this Winter.
  • After the Fall looks like a first-person post-apocalyptic adventure releasing next year.

Lastly Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash! will be releasing sometime in Autumn. Man does this game look odd. In Space Channel 5 you seem to be fighting aliens while dancing, and honestly, it looks like a great time!

PlayStation gave us about a quick reminder that the Medievil remake will be available on October 25th by releasing a playable demo.

A long-awaited series is finally coming to PlayStation. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is coming to PlayStation with its two expansion passes sold separately on November 22nd, 2019.

A short story trailer for the Oxenfree developer Night School Studios’ new game Afterparty sees you and your best friend try to escape hell by out drinking Satan himself. This will be released 2019.

A new limited edition PlayStation Pro bundle includes a stunning Death Stranding design will be made available alongside the game on November 8th, 2019.

Now before we were shown the big finale, October’s PS+ games were shown off, one being MLB The Show 2019 and the other is The Last of Us Remastered. Both are exclusive to the console and The Last of Us being free ties in nicely with State of Play’s final announcement.

The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on February 21, 2020. This was shown off in a gory new trailer showing why Ellie is out for revenge. It also features the return of Joel’s brother Tommy and debunks the fan theory that Joel died after the first game. Seeing these two come back together with a new dynamic filled me with so much joy and interest that I can’t wait to dive back into the world of The Last of Us.
