There’s been a lot going on with indie game sensation, SUPERHOT. The SUPERHOT Team has been working on an expansion called MIND CONTROL DELETE, announced a port for the Stadia and a Nintendo Switch port of the game was put up yesterday. However, they’re not just putting work in their own game. The team has also set out to help other developers with SUPERHOT PRESENTS.

SUPERHOT PRESENTS is a fund by the SUPERHOT Team aimed at supporting smaller developers with funding and advice. The fund’s said to be dedicated to developers with games similar in style to SUPERHOT in a similar timezone, though the first two games the team’s working on are Australian with radically different styles.

The first game being supported by SUPERHOT Presents is the Frog Detective series. The series is by Grace Bruxner and Thomas Bowker and it’s about, well, a funky little frog solving mysteries in a world of funny animal people. The first installment, The Haunted Island, was made while one of the developer’s juggled with university and part-time work. Of course, with funding by the SUPERHOT Team, it enables the Frog Detective developers to focus more on future installments.

The second game being supported, one that I’m personally excited about, is Knuckle Sandwich. Knuckle Sandwich is being developed by Andrew Brophy and its initial premise is about a guy trying to look for work in a new city. The wacky, whimsical look of the game contrasts with the dismal trials of finding employment, and is presented through intense minigames.

A lot of indie developers have trouble trying to finish their projects because of financial constraints and in a turbulent industry, there’s no guarantee that a game will be successful, let alone profitable. Under a publisher, some developers may not have the creative freedom to do what they want. SUPERHOT PRESENTS helps address the former problem, while allowing developers to have the independence to follow their vision.
