Cozy Ghost Adventure The Final Farewell Out Now

I’m all about the cozy games, and there’s no shortage nowadays. I think every genre has its place, and something about unwinding for the day with a simple, straightforward adventure game hits the spot for me. A title that caught my eye is finally releasing now, and if you’re into cozy narrative adventures, you’ll want to take a look. Northern Irish developer Studio Witchstar has just launched The Final Farewell, a title available now for PC via Steam. With gorgeous art and a great premise, The Final Farewell joins other cozy hits as great ways to sit back, relax, and explore mysterious and miraculous worlds.

The Final Farewell is a cozy narrative adventure about saying goodbye and letting go of those we love, whilst cherishing the memories they leave behind. As a lost ghost, players wander the beautiful, yet ominous, Whispering Woods, befriending wayward mortals and piecing together their misty memories. Successfully lay to rest the echoes of the past, and in turn, learn what happened to bring you to this place. It’s definitely toying with themes we’ve explored in titles like Spiritfarer but with a top-down adventure look similar to Wytchwood. Those are two fantastic games to call company, but The Final Farewell feels like its own adventure altogether.

I love supporting smaller developers that put time into titles like this, and Studio Witchstar has a really cool story. In October 2023, the studio received funding through Northern Ireland Screen’s Minigame program and created its first game over 5 months. The great thing about these sorts of passion projects is the heart that radiates around these games. From its announcement, it felt like The Final Farewell could be special, and now players have the chance to find out for themselves. Just a heads up: There is a trigger warning on the game’s Steam page that is worth reading ahead of purchase.
