With the passing of Akira Toriyama, a lot of eyes are on his many published works. Additionally, fans of his work are clamoring for the announced adaptations of things he has created. Bandai Namco has announced that players can now have a short taste of the upcoming Sand Land game ahead of its April release.

Available now, fans can play a demo of Sand Land on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles ahead of the April 26th release date. Pre-orders are available now as well for both the deluxe and collector’s editions of the game. Check out what the press release had to say about the demo (and the game) here:

“This explosive new demo invites players to experience a slice of the exciting vehicle and melee combat and exploration in SAND LAND. Step into the roles of the Fiend Prince Beelzebub, his chaperone Thief, and the fearless Sheriff Rao as the band of heroic misfits journeys across this colorful world via Battle Tanks, Battle Amors [sic], and Motorcycles. Fans who play the demo will receive 30 B-grade steel and 30 B-grade bolts in the final game after launch, which can be used to enhance vehicles in Spino.

SAND LAND is a popular manga created in 2000 by Akira Toriyama, the author of DRAGON BALL and Dr. Slump, that has gained worldwide popularity since its publishing. In a desert world where demons and humans suffer from extreme water shortages, Beelzebub, the Fiend Prince, and Rao, a small-town sheriff, form a tag team and set off on an adventure in search of a hidden water source.

In December 2022, the SAND LAND project was announced, where various partners have come together to bring this classic manga IP to transmedia. The project started with the co-production of an anime film by Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc.’s Sunrise Studio, Kamikazedouga Co. Ltd., and ANIMA Inc, followed by the official reveal of the SAND LAND game in June 2023.”

I’ll admit that I am intrigued by Sand Land. I’ve never read the manga, but a video game adaptation is the perfect way to introduce someone like me to the IP. We don’t have much longer to wait either, as April 26th is coming pretty quickly.
