One of the highlights of 2023 for me was Venba, Visai Games’ delightful and heartfelt cooking game. While the experience was short, it was also highly impactful, and I found myself wishing I could just spend more time with it. It turns out that my wish is being granted, and sooner than I would have expected to boot!

On March 13th, Venba will be getting a free “Cookbook DLC,” which will offer detailed recipes for twelve recipes featured in the game. This is especially helpful since some of the main story’s recipes are fragmented, making it difficult for players to duplicate them in real life the way they might want to.

I will admit, I have been curious to try some of Venba’s dishes since I played through it last year. The DLC will be free across all platforms if you own Venba. I’m actually shocked by this, considering the game itself is a steal at the price Visai Games charges for it. I’d be willing to pay for DLC like this, but I hope they’re at least getting the appreciation for the love and care they have put into the game so far.

If you haven’t played Venba yet, I highly recommend it. It is easily one of the most heartfelt, warm, cozy games I’ve played in a long time. At the time I played it, I was struck by how hard it hit me due to my own relationship with food and family. Now, after losing my mom in October of 2023, it’s even more of a special experience.

Venba is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles. It is a short yet sweet experience, and yet I find myself hoping that Visai Games explores more beautiful ideas in their next game. Between the gameplay and the music, it is an unforgettable experience.
