On top of the addicting gameplay, as well as constantly improving visuals and mechanics, Fortnite continues to stay relevant thanks to its ability to evolve and expand. One of the most impressive updates to date is a new game mode in collaboration with LEGO, providing players with a Minecraft-style survival-building game. Thanks to the new mode, the popular online game has yet again broken its concurrent player record. Here’s a bit more about the history made this weekend.

The concurrent player record for Fortnite has been broken this weekend thanks to the launch of LEGO Fortnite. Over 7.1 million players were active on Saturday, with more players active on the new game mode than the Battle Royale mode that made the game famous. On launch, LEGO Fortnite hit nearly 3 million players online at once, proving that Epic Games’ gamble to put this much effort into a new mode was worth it.

The other new game modes, Fortnite Festival and Rocket Racing, certainly helped draw players to the free-to-play mega hit this weekend. That said, the LEGO collaboration is certainly the latest in a line of jaw-dropping partnerships Fortnite has secured. After a few hours, I myself can say there’s certainly potential with the LEGO experience, but it’s hard to keep me and others away from Battle Royale or Zero Build for too long.

Let us know if you’ve tried any of the new game modes in the comments! If so, you were likely a part of history this weekend.
