Finally, it has only taken a year and a bit to get three dates out of Russell and the production crew. Trying to get the dates of these 60th-anniversary specials has been like getting blood from a stone, which if you are unfamiliar with the concept, is quite hard. We’ve all sat for months now wondering things like: “The week before, the week of the 23rd, and the week after, maybe?” Then it has crept ever closer and we’ve (or at least some of us) been rather impatient. It is me, I’m the impatient one.

I am no longer impatient, and don’t need to try and fit in the TARDIS behind me. The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary specials start airing on the 25th of November. They are followed of course on the 2nd of December and then the 9th for special number three and presumably the episode where Ncuti finally gets his regeneration. Of course, it isn’t just the return of Russell on the 25th, it is the return of Tennant and Tate alongside the wonderful Rachel Talalay for that first episode, “The Star Beast.”

Davies had released a short video on Instagram (as well as the Doctor Who profile exploding with stuff) doing his usual “what does it even mean?” I don’t know Russell, you’ve named an episode “Wild Blue Yonder,” which is directed by comedy-focused director Tom Kingsley. Not only that, you have Chanya Button who worked on a wizard series I wouldn’t spit on if it was on fire doing an episode called “The Giggle.” Button has done 1 comedy thing and a whole lot of drama/historical stuff. I don’t believe “The Giggle” is a historical episode.

Airing on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ everywhere else, I wonder if there will still be terrestrial broadcasts in significant enough markets. I don’t know if that’s doable or if Disney will somehow simulbroadcast. Though of course, there is another special set to air in December too. Mark Tonderai’s Christmas special has Russell once again at the helm, and thus presumably it is Ncuti’s first story. However, that’s not the only news. Days ago now, it was revealed that even before we get a proper episode with him, Ncuti’s second series (Series 15) has begun filming.

I am beyond excited for these specials and all that’s to follow. It seems I’ll be here on the 30th once again talking about Doctor Who for the 150-somethingth time and then the following weeks. I guess I need to try and climb in this TARDIS again and hurry this wait along too.
