Magic: The Gathering Set to Launch Marvel Crossover

Magic: The Gathering is the core and key deck-building game in the tabletop gaming world. Collaborations for the long-running Hasbro TCG have spanned many major franchises and IPs, but the latest announcement feels like the biggest of all. Beginning in 2025, products for Magic: The Gathering will feature Marvel characters, stories, and worlds. Here’s what we know so far about the crossover that Hasbro is calling “years in the making.”

Magic: The Gathering utilizes its Universes Beyond collection to explore other spaces within pop culture. Marvel, of course, is a household name in 2023, and the crossover between Magic and Marvel is set to be something the Wizards of the Coast-turned Hasbro subsidiary franchise has worked toward for years. “We are extremely proud to collaborate with Marvel to bring its iconic characters to fans around the world in new ways,” said Cynthia Williams, President of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Gaming.

Plenty of Marvel trading card games have existed over the years, including the current Fantasy Flight Games series Marvel Champions. A line of cards with Magic, however, feels big, even for a company with an entire cinematic universe. Storytelling aspects, characters, and other elements of Marvel will permeate the Magic ecosystem for a series of products I’m sure fans of both the comics and card game will want to collect upon launch.

Speaking of launch, over 50 million fans who play Magic today will need to wait a bit before seeing these cards on the shelves. The crossover appears to be set to launch in 2025. It sounds like a long time from now, but it will be here before we know it. The crossover sub-brand Universes Beyond intends on crossing over with other popular IP in the future, and we’ll be sure to keep an eye on any other announcements fans will want to read about.
